St Edward is a joint venture company owned by M&G Real Estate and the Berkeley Group.

The Berkeley Group builds homes and neighbourhoods. We seek to create beautiful, successful places. We work together with other people to tackle the shortage of good quality homes, and we make a lasting contribution to the landscape and to the communities we help create.

A PEOPLE-CENTRED APPROACH

We want to create places people will love as their own. Places that inspire a sense of pride, belonging and community spirit. This can only be achieved through listening to people and putting their wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We have to show care, passion and attention to detail, day after day. When we approach development in this way, local people become our partners. They bring their own energy and ideas, and they turn a place into a real community.
Experts in Placemaking

It’s about creating strong communities where people from all walks of life can live comfortably together.

OUR COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING BIODIVERSITY

The Berkeley Group has made a commitment to develop and apply an approach which ensures that all our new developments create a net biodiversity gain. This is part of a strategic plan for the business called Our Vision. Very simply, this means there will be more nature on every site when Berkeley has finished than when we began.

GUILDFORD & SUSTAINABILITY

The development will be compliant with Guildford Borough Council’s strategy in addressing and preventing the impacts of climate change. The Council’s declaration of a Climate Change Emergency in 2019 included the ultimate goal for the Borough becoming carbon neutral at some stage in the future.

The Berkeley Group was the first housebuilder to commit to being carbon neutral by 2030 and St Edward’s development at North Street will include measures to accomplish this aim.

St. Edward will work closely with the Council’s Climate Change Officer in developing the proposals, and will consider the guidance contained in the recently adopted Climate Change, Sustainable Design, Construction and Energy SPD (Sept 2020).
